Rhinoplasty Surgery Procedure

Rhinoplasty Recovery is a short outdoor surgery that doesn’t need a night stay. General or local anesthesia is given to keep you painless and relaxed. Mostly local anesthesia is preferred but in uncooperative patients, general anesthesia is preferred. After the anesthesia, an incision is given on the nose skin through the nostrils. Skin is retracted, defective bones and cartilage are approximated to their correct position.

In the humped nose, extra cartilage or tissue is cut off, while in saddle nose, extra tissue grafting is done to refill the space. After the repositioning and reshaping of the nose, retracted skin are joined together with the sutures. This short procedure just takes one and a half hours and you are discharged with the proper instructions.

Rhinoplasty Recovery

After having this facial plastic surgery, people used to wear a nasal splint for the first 6 to seven days of surgery. After surgery, like other surgeries, you can experience some swelling and bruise around your eyes that will begin to fade after the three days. Might be this is a little edema due to local anesthesia. It can last up to two weeks after surgery.

Be sure, you must avoid stressful or strenuous activity for almost three to six weeks after the surgery. You also should eat healthy food such as milk, meat, green salads, hot soup, and nuts to get enough energy to promote healing. Within 2 to 3 weeks after the rhinoplasty surgery, you may return to your normal social activities without any signs of the done procedure.

A little swelling over your nose can be expected which you noticed and your surgeon will notice. But don’t be so upset, this will go away within the six months. Then your final, desired shape of the nose will have appeared after the complete healing.
